We are using it to showcase a selection of our 20th Century, Mid-Century Modern,Retro items of furniture which we have for sale, and which we have arranged in our Industrial Showroom, and which, we fondly hope, looks like your favourite Industrial Loft, or even, your funky Barn Conversion. RETRO STYLE-MODERN CONSTRUCTION.
We have just finished work on the first example of a design, drawing influences from Albrizzi Designs of the 1970s, and here it is! The frame is in solid, square-cut steel bar with welded corners to give a very simple, retro, silhouette. The top, in this case, is in very rare Spalted Hornbeam - an English hardwood, in a solid plank, some 4.5cm(nearly two inches thick) This first design is for a Console Table, and its dimensions are 120cm wide X 30cm deep (as is the Hornbeam plank) X 85cm high. The Hornbeam plank sits on the top of the frame, using a small steel upstand to give a shadow line between the top bar of the frame, and the underside of the plank (see our second picture). This design can be re-created to order to any reasonable dimensions for, say, a coffee table, side table or display stand, although we do not expect to be able to source any more of the Spalted Hornbeam! However, we have many other unusual woods with a good grain which can be used, again to order. This Console is priced at £1100, and we have a matching second example also available.
1950s Herringbone Chair with Casa Pupo-style Lamp.
One of a pair of 1950s Armchairs which we have had recovered in a very Retro Herringbone fabric, and photographed here with a Casa Pupo-style Table Lamp.(Both Items now JUST SOLD)
Some Chrome Items available in our Tetbury Shop.
A snapshot of some chrome and glass items, some Deco, some later, on display in our Tetbury Shop.
Two very finely Painted Still Lifes in Gouache.
We think these new acquisitions are very suitable for display in our Retro Room Settings page. Two Gouache Still Life Paintings, one monochrome and one in colour, by an unknown hand, but of a good standard. They both measure 65cm X 50 overall (actual painting is 57cm X 42cm), and are currently un-framed. We have just bought them in France, and we believe that they might be Graduation Pieces. Each is priced at £135, un-framed.
Spun Aluminium Apple Ice Bucket
What can be more Retro than this? Very "Mad Men"! A Spun Aluminium Apple Icebucket from the 1970s, with cast aluminium "stalk" handle. Basically good condition, but with the usual dings and scratches. Plastic insulated liner in place and intact. Italian. It measures 30cm high to the top of the handle X 25cm diameter. JUST SOLD.
Pale Green heavy Glass Champagne Bucket.
An unusual, and very heavy, Champagne Bucket in glass, we think, rather than crystal. Most unusual, and slightly ethereal, pale green colour. It measures 20cm high X 24cm wide over the handles X 16cm wide. French, and probably 1970s. JUST SOLD.
Large Tapered Green Glass Vase.
Another unusual piece of glassware: this is also French, and has a very pronounced green colour to the glass, as well as a series of trapped bubbles in the glass, which reminds us of the Clichy glass we have had previously. It measures 40cm high X 25cm diameter at the top. JUST SOLD.
Tan Leather Dining/Desk Chair by Zanotta.
A very elegant close-covered leather dining/desk chair by Zanotta. We have not been able to identify this particular design, nor date it accurately, but it certainly not in their current model range - we guess it is from the 1970s, and follows on from some other close-covered leather designs that were introduced by Hermes in the 1960s. This chair is in very good condition, with no wear to the leather, and all the stitching is intact. It has a "Zanotta Italy" stamp to the leather and another Zanotta stamp under the seat. The chair measures 86cm high at the back X 48cm deep X 37cm high: the seat is 45cm at the front. JUST SOLD.
Very well-made Square Side Table by Zevi.
Super-quality, and very heavy, square Side Table in brass (some tarnishing) and chrome by Zevi of Italy. An unusual design, as it has "ski" legs all round, which makes for a much stronger design. The smoked glass top is scratched but still very good. Looking at the quality, this is probably 1970s. It measures 60cm wide X 60cm deep X 34cm high. JUST SOLD.
Pair of Gold & Silver Five-Branch Chandeliers.
We have not often seen a pair of small chandeliers (although we are constantly being asked for them in the shop), so we are very pleased to have bought these. They are in very good condition, and the design is five branches, with a well-worked design of silver flowers and golden leaves. Again French, and perhaps from the 1960s. They measure 50cm in diameter X 40cm high to the top of the Chandelier + 30cm of chain & rose. JUST SOLD.
Three Shelf Brass Etagere.
Very simple, but elegant, design of Etagere in brass-plated steel with fixed positions for the three smoked glass shelves. Difficult to put a date on the design, but it smacks of the 1970s. The etagere measures 77cm wide X 38cm deep X 98cm high. JUST SOLD. (All Picture Frames JUST SOLD)
Trio of Brass Tables with Verre Eglomisé tops.
A very well-made trio of Brass Side Tables with ribbed legs, and with verre eglomisé tops in an almost copper mirror finish (some wear to mirror in places) The dimensions of the tables are:- 1) 50cm wide X 36cm deep X 36ch high. 2) 43cm wide X 36cm deep X 33cm high. 3) 36cm wide X 36cm deep X 30cm high. Price is £320 for the trio.
Soft Rectangular Mirror with Oval Blue Mirror Inner Frame.
Blue Mirrors are becoming extremely difficult to find, so this is exceptional!
This is Italian from the 1970s, and has a "soft" rectangular shape, with an applied oval blue mirror inner frame, and it is stunning!
Very good condition (the marks in the mirror are reflections). It measures 80cm X 60cm, and can be hung either portrait or landscape. JUST SOLD.
