ANTIQUES IN TETBURYStephen & Ines Muir, each now with over thirty five years experience in sourcing, buying and selling quality antiques, had their major business based in London. We have been based in the well-known ANTIQUES TOWN of TETBURY in the glorious COTSWOLDS for over ten years now, and have celebrated over seven years in our own shop at 58 Long Street, Tetbury, Gloucestershire, GL8 8AQ, which showcases our theme of mixing good contemporary design with selected pieces from the 20th Century Antiques, French Decorative Antiques, Retro, and sometimes even, the 19th Century, in fact, Antiques for Modern Interiors.
Our phone number in the shop is +44(0)1666504522, and mobile number is +44(0)7836758416.

Shown above is a fabulous example of Retro design, but it is English! - This is a three-seat sofa in cream leather by Boss Designs of Dudley. See details elsewhere on our site.
Tetbury now has become known world-wide since The Prince of Wales opened his Highgrove Shop in this iconic Cotswolds, Gloucestershire town in April 2008.
We specialise in more Modern, retro, Antiques and normally, nothing older than Art Deco, but right up-to-date if the style and quality is good. Our major buying area is France, where we buy Decorative and Modern,20th Century pieces, but we source in Belgium & Holland as well. We spend a minimum of ten days per month abroad buying Antiques for our Tetbury operation, visiting specialised antique markets, Brocantes, and private sources of supply of the style and quality of articles which we like, and which our wide range of customers, both trade and private, love to buy. When we can find them, we will buy good pieces of furniture designed by, for example, CHARLOTTE PERRIAND, CHARLES & RAY EAMES, MART STAM, any BAUHAUS designer, ROBIN & LUCIENNE DAY, MARCEL BREUER, HANS OLSEN, MARIO BELLINI, as well as PIEFF, MERROW ASSOCIATES or sometimes, DE SEDE, or anything now called Retro Antiques. We also have a love for such materials as Linen and Hemp(we always have a good selection of French sheets, some with hand-embroidered initials, in stock), Gilt-Bronze, Bakelite, Palm-Wood, Sheet Copper, Cast-Iron, Perspex, Lucite, Mirror, chrome and nickel plate and leather & suede. We are also attracted to such finishes as Faux-Marbre, Trompe L'Oeil, Crackle-Glaze, Grisaille and Limed wood. Please look at ALL our pages to get a good idea of our style and to see if you can find something you really, really want.

Rare and unusual Two-Colour Bois Durci Plaque.NEW STOCK for OCTOBER 2015. We have always admired the very high quality of design and manufacture of Bois Durci - a French technique, dating from the end of the 19th Century, and involving the casting and baking of a mixture of shellac & (usually) rosewood sawdust to create desk-top items, picture frames and plaques such as this. This plaque dates, we guess, from 1890/1900, and is unusual, in that the outer section is in black Bois Durci, and the inner panel of classical design (probably after Boucher) is in Sang de Boeuf. The overall size is 31cm wide X 23cm high (chip to top LH corner), and the inner panel measures 21cm wide X 13cm high. The price is £155.

The Designer/Manufacturer is labelled Gallotti & Radice from Como, Italy, who are still manufacturing high-end domestic & office furniture today, but this item dates from the 1960s. It measures 102cm wide X 40cm deep X 73cm high, and is priced at £375.
Root Sculpture. This sculpture is an almost petrified root (perhaps of a Sequoia), inverted, and then mounted on a steel base, as a sculpture. It is also very heavy! It measures 104cm at its widest X 70cm deep X 70cm high, and is priced at £285.

Round Coffee Table with "Corned Beef" Marble or Granite TopA very stylish round coffee, or side, table in brushed steel, with an inset marble top in dark red marble, or I prefer to call it Corned Beef granite, probably Norwegian. It measures 80cm in diameter, and is 41cm high. The marble/granite is in very good condition with a high polish. The steel frame is in very sound condition, but the original lacquer is beginning to colour and wear, and, ideally, the frame should be stripped back to the metal. However, the item is very stylish and usable as it is. JUST SOLD.
