ANTIQUES IN TETBURY
Stephen & Ines Muir, each now with over thirty five years experience in sourcing, buying and selling quality antiques, had their major business based in London. We have been based in the well-known ANTIQUES TOWN of TETBURY in the glorious COTSWOLDS for over ten years now, and have celebrated over seven years in our own shop at 58 Long Street, Tetbury, Gloucestershire, GL8 8AQ, which showcases our theme of mixing good contemporary design with selected pieces from the 20th Century Antiques, French Decorative Antiques, Retro, and sometimes even, the 19th Century, in fact, Antiques for Modern Interiors.

We specialise in more Modern, retro, Antiques and normally, nothing older than Art Deco, but right up-to-date if the style and quality is good. Our major buying area is France, where we buy Decorative and Modern,20th Century pieces, but we source in Belgium & Holland as well. We spend a minimum of ten days per month abroad buying Antiques for our Tetbury operation, visiting specialised antique markets, Brocantes, and private sources of supply of the style and quality of articles which we like, and which our wide range of customers, both trade and private, love to buy. When we can find them, we will buy good pieces of furniture designed by, for example, CHARLOTTE PERRIAND, CHARLES & RAY EAMES, MART STAM, any BAUHAUS designer, ROBIN & LUCIENNE DAY, MARCEL BREUER, HANS OLSEN, MARIO BELLINI, as well as PIEFF, MERROW ASSOCIATES or sometimes, DE SEDE, or anything now called Retro Antiques. Re-Edition of Pipistrello Lamp by Gae Aulenti
NEW STOCK for MARCH 2016. A full-size (there are some miniatures about) re-edition of the Pipistrello Lamp designed by Gae Aulenti in the mid '60s. The design was so named as the shape of the white moulded perspex shade was though to resemble a bat in flight. This re-edition looks much like the original, but does not have a telescopic central column: otherwise, it has the form & characteristics of the original, including the four individual bulbs beneath the shade, as well as the round tapered column base. This example has a height of70cm, and the shade measures 60cm X 60cm. The lamp will be re-wired to UK standards before sale. JUST SOLD.

Rare and unusual Two-Colour Bois Durci Plaque.
We have always admired the very high quality of design and manufacture of Bois Durci - a French technique, dating from the end of the 19th Century, and involving the casting and baking of a mixture of shellac & (usually) rosewood sawdust to create desk-top items, picture frames and plaques such as this. This plaque dates, we guess, from 1890/1900, and is unusual, in that the outer section is in black Bois Durci, and the inner panel of classical design (probably after Boucher) is in Sang de Boeuf. The overall size is 31cm wide X 23cm high (chip to top LH corner), and the inner panel measures 21cm wide X 13cm high. The price is £155.

A very stylish round coffee, or side, table in brushed steel, with an inset marble top in dark red marble, or I prefer to call it Corned Beef granite, probably Norwegian. It measures 80cm in diameter, and is 41cm high. The marble/granite is in very good condition with a high polish. The steel frame is in very sound condition, but the original lacquer is beginning to colour and wear, and, ideally, the frame should be stripped back to the metal. However, the item is very stylish and usable as it is. JUST SOLD.
